The City of Meade, Kansas is the county seat of Meade County, located near the center of the county at the intersection of US-54, US-160, and KS-23. Located halfway between the two larger cities of Dodge City and Liberal, Meade is best known for it's wide paved streets, relaxed atmosphere, good schools and friendly people.
By population, Meade is classified as a 3rd Class City. The City Council is the Governing Body of the City. The Governing Body consists of five Council Members, Mayor, City Administrator, City Clerk, and City Attorney. The City Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month at 7:00 p.m. in the City Building. The Council has a diverse number of powers. In general terms, it sets the policy for the City. It devises a budget for the year and approves it and sets the tax levy for the City.
