Meade Municipal Airport

Overview

The Meade Municipal Airport is owned by the City of Meade, Kansas with services being provided by Craig Stratton, Bringham Flying Service.

Meade Municipal Airport (MEJ) is located near the geographical center of Meade County, Kansas, approximately one-half mile west of the City of Meade, Kansas, at an elevation of 2,529 feet above mean sea level. The Meade Municipal Airport is classified as a general aviation airport. The current airport site comprises approximately 247 acres of fee simple property ownership and 22 acres of easements.

Development of the airport facility for the City of Meade was initiated in 1941 by the Chamber of Commerce. Since 1947, a number of airport improvements have been made including runways, taxiways, aprons, parking areas, T-hangars, and various lighting improvements. Significant improvements consisted of main hangar construction in 1970, construction of a new primary runway in 1987, upgrades to the airport electrical vault, and other lighting modifications and improvements in the late 1980's. The runway was reconstructed, widened and extended in 1992.

Continuing improvements include an AWOS System, new airplane hangars, a fueling system and updated LED runway lights.
